In the treatment of male pattern baldness, minoxidil solution and foam are used to promote hair growth. It is not utilized to treat frontal baldness or a receding hairline in men. The foam and 2% minoxidil solution are also used to promote hair growth in women who have thinning hair.
Minoxidil is a vasodilator, which is a type of medication. It is unknown how minoxidil promotes hair growth. This medicine should not be taken if you have sudden/patchy hair loss, unexplained hair loss (for example, if you have no family history of hair loss), or if you suffer hair loss after delivering birth.
Minoxidil Solution Application

Before administering the drug, clean and dry the affected area. You may use this product on damp hair. Fill the applicator with 1 milliliter of medicine (to the 1 milliliter line) or use 20 drops to apply the solution.
Part your hair in the thinning region and apply the solution evenly to the afflicted scalp area. Rub in gently. Allow the solution to completely dry before using any other style products (such as gels or mousse) or going to bed.
To use the foam, thoroughly clean and dry your hands. Apply a half-capful of foam to the scalp and gently massage it in. Before styling or going to bed, let the foam completely dry.
If scalp irritation is an issue, you should avoid taking minoxidil on days when you have your hair dyed or chemically treated (for example, permed).

What You Need To Remember About Minoxidil
Unless otherwise ordered by your doctor, do not use on other regions of the body. Use caution if your skin is red, painful, irritated, scraped, cut, or infected. After using the product, properly wash your hands. Try not to get the medicine in your eyes. If this happens, wipe your eyes well with cold water.
Do not use this drug more frequently than prescribed, or apply it to an irritated or burnt scalp. This might result in the medicine being absorbed into your body and causing dangerous negative effects.

Hair regeneration takes time. Most people need to take this drug on a regular basis for four months to observe results. To keep hair growing, this medicine must be used on a regular basis. Side Effects

Stop using this medicine and notify your doctor immediately if you have any significant adverse effects, such as unwanted facial/body hair, dizziness, fast/irregular heartbeat, fainting, chest discomfort, swelling of hands/feet, unexpected weight gain, weariness, or trouble breathing while lying down.
It is uncommon for this medicine to cause a severe allergic response. However, get medical attention immediately if you detect any of the following signs of a severe allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (particularly of the face/tongue/throat), extreme dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
